Already released to much critical acclaim in the US, Low Cut Connie's third album Hi Honey was produced by renowned Daptone Records guitarist Thomas Brenneck (Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Alabama Shakes) and features guest stars Merrill Garbus (Tune-Yards), Dean Ween, Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound), members of the Dap Kings, and a cameo from the Sopranos cast-member Vinnie Pastore (Big Pussy).
The album was immediately lauded in the US by the likes of Rolling Stone, Maxim, Magnet, and NPR / Sound Opinions who named the record to the their top 5 records of 2015 list saying "they're the essence of what rock n roll should be."
The lead single "Shake It Little Tina", and its ridiculous dance-magic video (which includes a brief cameo from Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx) have been played over 200,000 times in the past few months in the USA
Here's the video for “Shake it Little Tina”:
Low Cut Connie formed in 2010 when singer/songwriters Adam Weiner (Philadelphia PA) and Daniel Finnemore (Birmingham UK) got stuck in a freight elevator together for four hours and decided to join forces to create their own brand of righteous rock and roll. In 2011, they released their debut album Get Out the Lotion, landing on NPR / Fresh Air’s Top Ten Albums Of The Year and legendary critic Robert Christgau’s Top Ten Songs Of The Year lists. Their second album, Call Me Sylvia (2012) included the band’s biggest song to date, “Boozophilia”, named one of Rolling Stone’s top 50 songs of 2012. The success of this record prompted an invitation by Jack White to play the grand reopening of his Third Man Records venue.
Low Cut Connie feature on President Obama's Daytime Playlist next to Aretha Franklin and The Temptations. A playlist handpicked by the President, Low Cut Connie, the underdog contender, were chosen for the playlist after one of Obama's daughters introduced her father to the band.
The band will continue to tour the US throughout the rest of 2015, and they are currently planning UK dates for early 2016.
"Low Cut Connie makes rock n roll in the great skank-brained tradition of the Replacements... it's living fire-breathing, furniture-tossing history."
