A gathering is an easy way of cooking and hosting. It means no pressure, no code of conduct, and everyone – cook included – can actually enjoy themselves. Gatherings by Flora Snedden is a mixture of modern dishes, staple snacks, salads and sides, interesting bakes, and puddings perfect to end a feast with. Nothing overly fussy or complicated, just tasty, pretty plates of food.
“I give you a mixture of ideas for your gatherings small and large, those planned out in advance or assembled at the very last minute, and those that are remembered long after the washing-up is done.” says Flora.
With practical tips and advice from how to set the table to how to equip your larder for easy entertaining, the chapters are led by occasion as Flora sets each feasting scene in her wonderfully laid back style: "Mornings Quick and Slow"; "Small Plates"; "Food to Fling Together"; "Everything Baked"; "Food to Take Your Time About"; "Drinks and Other Things To Celebrate With"; and "Sweet Plates and Puds".
Pick and choose from dishes like Sloe Gin-Braised Venison, Rainbow Rice Paper Rolls and Star Anise Shortbread Stars or be inspired by one of Flora’s menu plans for gatherings like a Spring Ladies Lunch, Summer River Picnic or Garden Party. Featuring more than 120 mouth-watering yet understated recipes, Gatherings is a stunning debut cookbook.
