Motopony: Welcome You
December 4th 2015 | eOne Music / Fast Plastic | Albums
The Seattle based alt-psych band, Motopony are set to release their sophomore LP, Welcome You (eOne Music / Fast Plastic) in December in the UK. A culmination of the last four years of spell-crafting, songwriting, knot tying, child bearing, rebuilding, reimagining and rebirth, and follows up the bands 2014 EP release “Idle Beauty” (eOne Music / Fast Plastic).
The album was recorded live to tape by Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Heartless Bastards, Trail of Dead) at Bear Creek Studio in Seattle, WA, and mixed by Guy Massey (Spirtualized, Manic Street Preachers, Ed Sheeran).
In the past year Motopony has toured almost halfway around the world and back, including a trip to India to perform at last years NH-7 Weekender festival and a stop in the UK for a short tour and recording in Abbey Road studios with producer Rob Cass.
Several songs from “Welcome You” have also been featured on the current season of the USA Network show Graceland as well as the new Hulu series Difficult People. The band will be releasing a limited edition version of the vinyl which includes a special 6 panel insert featuring exclusive art by local Seattle artists and only available via their website and at their shows, including UK dates which they hope to announce soon.
"The group’s music blends the spaciness of early Pink Floyd with Bowie-style glam and filters it all through a modern indie pop lens”
- Entertainment Weekly
"'Welcome You' embodies the human spirit, a transformation of sorts. It can’t solely be identified in one way, but can collectively cater to many different listeners and audiophiles."
- Best New Bands
"In an age where every band sounds like an easily picked out handful of other bands, Motopony is a unique creature...a band that is all their own."
